286.86 million wireless users in India at the end of June

According to TRAI, Indian mobile firms added 8.94 million users in June, maintaining the momentum in the world’s fastest-growing mobile services market.
TRAI said there were 286.86 million wireless users in India at the end of June, up 55% from a year earlier. In May, mobile operators had signed 8.62 million subscribers.
Top mobile operator Bharti Airtel led the signing in June with 2.55 million new customers. The company had 69.4 million mobile users at end-June. No 2 Reliance Communications added 1.74 million wireless users to have 50.79 million subscribers.
Unlisted Vodafone Essar, controlled by Britain’s Vodafone, added 1.73 million mobile customers in June, taking its total to 49.2 million. Fixed-line users continued to dwindle with the subscribers declining 130,000 in June to 38.92 million.
Total fixed-line and wireless subscribers rose nearly 45% from a year earlier to 325.78 million at the end of June.
